What: Earth Day Texas Leadership Dinner

The 411: The newly expanded and rebranded Earth Day Texas toasted a successful opening day with a celebratory dinner for 200 hosted by founder Trammell S. Crow and emceed by actor and environmentalist Ed Begley Jr. Keynote speaker was 2013 CNN Hero of the Year and Living Lands & Waters founder Chad Pregracke, who also presented during the festival's educational speaker series. In addition to dinner, guests were treated to the sounds of the K3 Sisters Band. In case you were curious about what "success" meant for Earth Day Texas, the two-day event attracted 57,000 attendees — a 39 percent increase over last year — and 14,000 of those rode DART.
