With hundreds of people pouring out of the bar and into the bowling alleys during Bowl & Barrel's opening night, the fete didn't feel very VIP.
But after sipping on beer and indulging in oysters, cheese and bites of butterscotch pie, attendees — including Jonathan Tobolowsky, Clay Freed, Brian Loving, Missy Wyszynski, Zalika Thomas, Jeannette Breen, Donny Boaz, Randy DeWitt, Melissa Holmes, Wesley Wisenbaker, Rich Hicks and Jack Gibbons — were feeling good.
Especially because co-owner Kyle Koonan, wearing a crisp, white apron, provided old-school service by serving and greeting everyone in the place.
Throughout the night, Koonan and his best friend, FIJI fraternity brother, college roommate and partner Joshua Sepkowitz worked the room as people congratulated them on the opening of their new concept at the Shops at Park Lane.
If you waited around long enough, like Margretta Wikert, Cody Wikert, Alyssa Ireland and Wesley Wisenbaker, you could bowl at one of the 15 lanes — even if you weren't wearing bowling shoes.
We are pleased to note that Bowl & Barrel is no ordinary bowling alley. We love the juxtaposition of the colorful bowling balls against the rustic interior: exposed brick, chandeliers with old-fashioned bulbs, and leather loungers. We also dig the long, wooden communal tables in the restaurant.
Word to the wise: If you're planning on throwing a party at Bowl & Barrel, be sure to reserve a lane and appoint a designated driver.
