Go San Antonio
New York Times picks one Texas city for 2015 travel hit list — and it ain't Austin
Although the New York Times has been having a love affair with Austin as of late, the paper may have transferred its affection to another Texas city. In a recent travel piece titled “52 Places to Go in 2015,” the Gray Lady picked only one Lone Star locale: San Antonio.
The list is heavy on the international destinations, including Cuba; Alentejo, Portugal; Milan; and Singapore. But in between Shikoku, Japan, and San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, is the River City, at No. 36.
In the article, San Antonio is praised for its “new attractions and renewed cultural depth.” The NYT points to recently revamped River Walk, the Briscoe Western Art Museum, Pearl Brewery and the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts among the city’s can’t-miss attractions.
The Times also suggests booking a stay at the soon-to-open Hotel Emma, a 146-room boutique hotel housed in a 19th century brewery.
