As the Golden Globe Awards are set to kick this year's movie awards season into high gear on Sunday, the North Texas Film Critics Association has announced its choices for the best of 2013, with Gravity coming away as the clear winner.
A visually stunning film, Gravity received four of the NTFCA's 10 awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Alfonso Cuarón, Best Actress for Sandra Bullock and Best Cinematography for the work of Emmanuel Lubezki.
Other awards included Best Actor for Chiwetel Ejiofor in 12 Years a Slave, Best Supporting Actress for Jennifer Lawrence in American Hustle, Best Supporting Actor for Jared Leto in Dallas Buyers Club, Best Animated Film for Disney's Frozen, Best Documentary for 20 Feet from Stardom, and Best Foreign Language Film for The Grandmaster and Blue is the Warmest Color (tie).
The NTFCA is a group of Dallas-Fort Worth area film critics, including yours truly, who have given out end-of-year awards to films for five years. Past Best Picture winners have included Up in the Air, Inception, War Horse and Lincoln.
