Design enthusiasts flock to McKinney Avenue for I.O. Metro grand opening fete
We felt right at home at the grand opening celebration for I.O. Metro, the latest home retailer on the Knox-Henderson furniture corridor. At what felt more like a housewarming party, guests weaved their way around modern furniture and accessories — platform beds, pretty upholstered pieces, funky lighting and local art — while sipping wine and Gordon Biersch beer.
Guests with an eye for design included Joyce Goss, Kenny Goss, Lynae Fearing, Jay Billingsley, Sam Saladino, Julie Lloyd,Brittney and Clay Freed, and Benjamin Papermaster, who moved about the space and admired the store's affordable and eclectic offerings.
We overheard one guy near the fabric swatches remark, "Now, if only I could get my mother in here." Speaking of swatches, shoppers can browse the racks of contemporary fabrics at the back of the store to find just the right one for a custom piece.
