Memorial Day Tragedy
Irving man dies after jet ski crash on Joe Pool Lake
A four-person jet ski accident at Joe Pool Lake claimed one life on Memorial Day. According to Grand Prairie police, two jet skis carrying two passengers each collided around 5 pm on May 26.
Irving resident Wayne Story, 42, was taken to Methodist Mansfield Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say the other three people on the jet skis survived the crash without injury. Alcohol isn't believed to be a factor. As is customary in fatal accidents, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will investigate the incident.
Story's death come less than a week after another man lost his life on a North Texas lake. Jeremy Daugherty, 24, jumped from a bridge into White Rock Lake in Dallas on May 20. Daugherty, who was with a friend, slipped underwater as he struggled to swim to shore. A Dallas police dive team found his body the next day.
