Dallas police arrest man in connection with violent murder of popular book reviewer
Police have arrested a person of interest in the murder of Penny Terk, a popular book reviewer. Gary Sanders, 50, has been charged with burglarizing Terk's home in the 6800 block of Putting Green Drive.
Terk, 73, was found dead in her South Dallas home June 28. According to police, someone broke into the home and stole lawn equipment and electronics.
Police were alerted of the crime when Terk's daughter went to check on her mother Friday afternoon. Upon discovering the back door ajar and the home in disarray, she called 911.
According to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office, Terk's death was caused by gunshot wounds, stabbing and strangulation.
On June 30, Sanders was booked into the Dallas County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Since becoming a person of interest in Terk's murder, his bond has been increased to $250,000.
Sanders has a lengthy criminal record, including multiple charges for aggravated robbery and burglary of a habitation.
