Where to shop in Dallas right now: 7 must-hit stores for July

Dallas is experiencing temperatures that make even getting out to shop sound taxing; however, once you get there, the air conditioning feels oh-so-satisfying. So pump yourself up for an afternoon outing perusing these shops with an iced coffee in hand and day dreaming of cooler days, when we can window shop without breaking a sweat.

Arhaus The Loft
Luxury furniture at discounted prices? Sign us up. This outlet-esque offshoot is now open in Grapevine Mills (next to Meow Wolf) and features the brand's same great stuff that just so happens to be discontinued, slightly imperfect, or overstocked. Chic & Gold
It's not every day that Dallasites can shop Pakistani artisan-made accessories. This e-commerce shop focuses on slow fashion and is the creation of Munira Syeda, who decided during COVID to blaze this new career path for herself. Born in Pakistan but now living in Dallas, Syeda selects natural materials such as handloomed cotton, which is plant-dyed to create beautiful accessories in small batches. She has plans to pop up around town at Pottery Barn, Kendra Scott, and at the Dallas Farmers Market, where she is a vendor.

Centre Bishop Arts
The cult-favorite Dallas sneaker shop has opened its third DFW location, this time in the bustling Bishop Arts neighborhood. This is your go-to shop for Nikes, Jordans, and other hard-to-source shoes for men, women, and kids. The store also features sports appeal and accessories, plus spaces to hang out and play games while you're there. Read more about it here.

Fenty Beauty
Calling all makeup lovers: The beloved beauty brand by Rihanna is popping up in Dallas for a couple of days only. On Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15, the pop-up will go down at the Dallas Galleria from 10 am-6 pm. Fans and newcomers to the brand can explore foundation formulas, find the perfect shades, and try other products that they may be curious about. The installation is set up on level one near the Westin Galleria Dallas.

Marni
Avant-garde fashionistas will be happy to know this Italian-based band is opening its first boutique in Texas at NorthPark Center on level one between Neiman Marcus and Dillard's. It's sure to be a destination for outfits that stand out in the very best way through mixing of bold prints and shapes in fun colors. The boutique features ready-to-wear, accessories, handbags, and fashion jewelry.

Staud at Market
Dallas' premiere boutique for a mix of sought-after and emerging designers is welcoming Staud for a six-month pop-up. The store is stacked with Staud ready-to-wear, swim, sport, shoes, and more. The pop-up begins on Friday, July 21 and runs through January 2024, at 26B Highland Park Village.

Tecovas
The Austin-based boots brand has opened its latest store at Dallas' NorthPark Center, on level one in between Nordstrom and Macy's. This is the brand's first location in a shopping mall and features boots, bags, apparel, and accessories. It also offers complimentary boot shines and free brews and others bevvies while guests browse and try on merchandise. Read more about the store here.

Just one Saks Off 5th store in DFW survives company's nationwide closures

Saks Off 5th is closing most of its stores.

Saks Global, parent company of Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, is closing most of its discount designer stores as it tries to wiggle through bankruptcy. In Dallas-Fort Worth, three Saks Off 5th and Neiman Marcus Last Call stores will shutter, and one will remain open.

According to a release:

The Saks Off 5th in Grapevine Mills mall will survive as the only remaining Saks Off 5th in Texas.
A Neiman Marcus Last Call store in Grapevine Mills will close.
The Saks Off 5th store in Dallas (8040 Park Ln.) will close February 2.
The Saks Off 5th location in Grand Prairie (2950 W. I-20 #125) will close February 2.

In total, 57 Off 5th stores and all remaining Last Call stores will shutter nationwide. (A complete list of closures can be found here.)

The mass closures come after Saks Global filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protections on January 14. The conglomerate has been buckling under the strain of $2.5 million in debt it acquired with the 2024 purchase of rival retailer Neiman Marcus.

"As we advance on Saks Global's transformation, we are taking decisive steps to realign our business to better serve our luxury customers and drive full-price selling across our core luxury businesses," says Geoffroy van Raemdonck, chief executive officer of Saks Global, in a release. "With these actions, we will be well positioned to seize the greatest opportunities for long-term growth and value creation. We sincerely thank our Saks Off 5th and Last Call colleagues for the important role they have played in serving our loyal customers."

In good news for shoppers, many of the U.S. stores, including those in DFW, will kick off closing sales beginning January 31. Additionally, saksoff5th.com will wind down its operations with an online closing sale beginning Friday, January 30.

The select Saks Off 5th stores remaining open, including the Grapevine Mills location, will serve primarily as a selling channel for residual inventory from Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman, the company says.

The overall primary market for luxury goods has been declining in recent years due to changing customer preferences, a perceived decline in quality in top brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, and a growing resale market led by sites like The RealReal and Vestaire Collective.
