Here we are again, talking about our favorite pastime: shopping. But with new stores opening and old favorites bringing in new merch, we have something to share every month. This is where we are shopping in April:
Belk
The doors to this North Carolina-based department store finally open at Galleria Dallas on April 9, in the old Saks Fifth Avenue spot. In addition to designer brands such as Nanette Lepore, Free People, Pink Tartan, Michael Kors, French Connection, Eileen Fisher, Trina Turk and Magaschoni, Southern hospitality is at the core of what Belk does, according to vice president of trend merchandising and fashion direction Arlene Goldstein.
Brunello Cucinelli
The luxurious Italian brand Brunello Cucinelli has made its mark on Highland Park Village. The boutique — which is one of 11 in the United States — showcases an impeccable collection of classic men's and women's clothing and accessories, made in the finest fabrics. Think wool, silk, cashmere and linen cut to perfection.
Fly Wheel
Now that cycling studio Fly Wheel has launched its own line of workout wear, you can get in some exercise and some shopping. Even if you're not a cycler, you'll want to check out this cute collection of tanks and sweats, which is also available online at Bloomingdales.com.
Kathy Adams Furniture + Design
Kathy Adams is hosting an in-store "Discoveries" pop-up shop through the end of the month, featuring bright furniture and decor. Among the unique and fun pieces are a vibrant abstract painting by Anne Schwartz, a contemporary zigzag wing-back chair, a velour couch and a plethora colorful accent pieces.
KidBiz and The Biz
When Jon Hart's design president brought the latest colorful design to its highest-grossing retailer in Dallas, Kid Biz & The Biz, a local mom insisted on purchasing it. From that moment on, the bag — which comes in red and blue, green and pink, and brown and tan — became the official Highland Park tote. It is available at both stores in the Plaza at Preston Center for $209 each. Like all of Jon Hart's designs, the tote can be customized with a monogram.
Shastra Home
Now open in the Dallas Design District, Shastra Home offers beautiful fair trade goods for every nook and cranny in your house. Whether it's a patterned doormat, metal lantern or organic bedding, everything at Shastra is made from natural, sustainable materials and supports the company's sister organization, the Living Dreams Foundation.
Stash Design
Owners of design firm Stash Design, Gary Buckner and Kim Linder, opened a shop along Greenville Avenue that boasts a cool selection of reclaimed woodwork and unique glass art. In addition their work on residential projects, the design duo is responsible for the interiors at Oddfellows and Stampede 66. So if you like those upcycled looks, you can take a bit of that aesthetic to your own space.
TenOverSix
LA import TenOverSix has brought in new jewelry, clothing and accessories for spring. Among the new treasures: exclusive 1960s vintage Cartier rings and earrings in 18-karat and white gold, Rodarté tees and ready-to-wear, Robert Clergerie platform sandals and high heels, and Arielle de Pinto stacked espadrilles.
The Wild Detectives
Oak Cliff has become even cooler with the addition of this new indie bookstore. Nestled in a quaint house on Eighth Street, the shop carries an edited selection of new books in addition to offering coffee, beer and wine, and a small assortment of pastries and cheese plates. Coming soon: a full menu.
Through April, Kathy Adams Furniture + Design is hosting a colorful pop-up shop within the store.
