It's hard not to have a great week when it begins with a day off. The week continues with several delicious food events that are happening everywhere from Deep Ellum to Lewisville. There's a wine-and-pizza pairing, a couple of whiskey tastings, and even a dinner inspired by Russian cuisine.

    Wednesday, January 23

Wine & Pizza Pairing at Gorji
Slice into three different crispy skillet pizzas paired with wines from France, California, and Greece. Tickets are $59, and both reservations and pre-payment are required. Call 972-503-7080 to secure your seat.

    Thursday, January 24

A Taste of Japan at Dallas Fish Market
Enjoy a five-course dinner with inspiration from Japan: The Cookbook by Nancy Singleton Hachisu. Courses include dashi simmered cabbage rolls, flaked salmon, steamed egg custard pots, and foil grilled crab and eggplant. Attendees will also have a chance to win two signed copies of the cookbook. Tickets are $70 and dinner starts at 6:30 pm.

Balcones Whisky Dinner at Troy's Arlington
A four-course dinner from chef Junior Borges will be paired with four Balcones Distilling Whisky cocktails. Courses include tuna crudo, tapioca tater tots, confit peppercorn beef short rib, and olive oil cake. The event also features Balcones-infused hand-rolled cigars onsite, live music, and swag. Tickets are $80 and dinner starts at 7 pm.

    Friday, January 25

Russian Winter Festival at Hotel St. Germain
This classic Uptown hotel is hosting a Russian Winter Festival featuring Red Mare wines. Proprietor Jim Striegel invites guests to join him as he explores six wines and a Russian menu that is inspired by the area's original settlers. Courses include braised beef short ribs with gremolata pampushki, grilled swordfish steak with Georgian pomegranate chutney, apple bread pudding, and more. Tickets are $120 and the dinner starts at 7 pm. Call 214-871-2516 to reserve your seat.

    Saturday, January 26

Dallas Winter Whiskey Tasting Festival at Bottled Blonde
Experience a two-hour whiskey tasting, 15 tasting tickets (with more available for purchase), featured food and drink specials, and more. A portion of proceeds will benefit a local charity. Featured brands include Highland Park, Old Elk Distillery, Cutwater Bourbon, Devil's Share Single Malt, and more. Tickets start at $23 and the event kicks off at 4 pm.

First Anniversary Celebration at TKO Libations
What better way to celebrate one year on the DFW brewery scene than with a family-friendly day of live music, free brewery tours, games, and giveaways? They will offer doughnuts and breakfast tacos for purchase early in the day, and Smokin’ J’s BBQ will be at the Village Shops at noon. Remy Reilly will perform at 2 pm, and Tim Novak will perform at 6 pm. The event is free to attend and starts at 11:30 am.

    Monday, January 28

    Uncommon Ramen 3.0 at Uchibā
The Uncommon Ramen series is kicking off the year on a particularly strong note with an appearance by the big boss, chef Tyson Cole. Cole has collaborated with chef de cuisine Alex Astranti to create a Sapporo-style miso ramen for $19. Think pork and chicken tonkotsu broth with chili marinated Berkshire pork rib, chicken meatball, pickled maitake mushrooms, beet tare cured soft-boiled egg, brown butter, and greens. To secure your spot, call 214-855-5454.

If you love food and drink, this one's for you. The CultureMap Tastemaker Awards return this spring to celebrate Dallas' top restaurant and bar talent — and you can get first dibs on discounted tickets right now.

Join us May 7 at Astoria Event Venue for our annual tasting event and awards ceremony. You'll indulge in delicious bites from top chefs, sip signature drinks, and be there for the big reveal of our 2026 Dallas winners.

This year in Dallas, we'll present awards for Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year, Bar of the Year, Rising Star Chef of the Year, Neighborhood Restaurant of the Year, Dessert Program of the Year, Coffee Shop of the Year, Best New Restaurant, and our wildcard category, Best Sandwich.

Our panel of judges — including past Tastemaker winners and local industry experts — selects all nominees and winners, except for the Best New Restaurant winner, which will be determined by our savvy readers in a heated online tournament.

Stay tuned for the unveiling of the 2026 Dallas Tastemaker Awards nominees, then get to know them all in our special editorial series leading up to the event.
