It's hard not to have a great week when it begins with a day off. The week continues with several delicious food events that are happening everywhere from Deep Ellum to Lewisville. There's a wine-and-pizza pairing, a couple of whiskey tastings, and even a dinner inspired by Russian cuisine.

Wine & Pizza Pairing at Gorji

A Taste of Japan at Dallas Fish Market
Enjoy a five-course dinner with inspiration from Japan: The Cookbook by Nancy Singleton Hachisu. Courses include dashi simmered cabbage rolls, flaked salmon, steamed egg custard pots, and foil grilled crab and eggplant. Attendees will also have a chance to win two signed copies of the cookbook. Balcones Whisky Dinner at Troy's Arlington
A four-course dinner from chef Junior Borges will be paired with four Balcones Distilling Whisky cocktails. Courses include tuna crudo, tapioca tater tots, confit peppercorn beef short rib, and olive oil cake. The event also features Balcones-infused hand-rolled cigars onsite, live music, and swag. Russian Winter Festival at Hotel St. Germain
This classic Uptown hotel is hosting a Russian Winter Festival featuring Red Mare wines. Proprietor Jim Striegel invites guests to join him as he explores six wines and a Russian menu that is inspired by the area's original settlers. Courses include braised beef short ribs with gremolata pampushki, grilled swordfish steak with Georgian pomegranate chutney, apple bread pudding, and more. Dallas Winter Whiskey Tasting Festival at Bottled Blonde
Experience a two-hour whiskey tasting, 15 tasting tickets (with more available for purchase), featured food and drink specials, and more. A portion of proceeds will benefit a local charity. Featured brands include Highland Park, Old Elk Distillery, Cutwater Bourbon, Devil's Share Single Malt, and more. Tickets start at $23 and the event kicks off at 4 pm.
First Anniversary Celebration at TKO Libations
What better way to celebrate one year on the DFW brewery scene than with a family-friendly day of live music, free brewery tours, games, and giveaways? They will offer doughnuts and breakfast tacos for purchase early in the day, and Smokin’ J’s BBQ will be at the Village Shops at noon. Remy Reilly will perform at 2 pm, and Tim Novak will perform at 6 pm. The event is free to attend and starts at 11:30 am.

Uncommon Ramen 3.0 at Uchibā
The Uncommon Ramen series is kicking off the year on a particularly strong note with an appearance by the big boss, chef Tyson Cole. Cole has collaborated with chef de cuisine Alex Astranti to create a Sapporo-style miso ramen for $19. Think pork and chicken tonkotsu broth with chili marinated Berkshire pork rib, chicken meatball, pickled maitake mushrooms, beet tare cured soft-boiled egg, brown butter, and greens.
