Groovy Dallas coffee roasters settle into Oak Cliff with first storefront

An award-winning coffee concept is opening its first stand-alone shop in Oak Cliff. Cultivar Coffee Bar & Roaster will open on Jefferson Boulevard, where it will offer not just coffee and tea, but also toast.
Founders Jonathan Meadows and Nathan Shelton will feature a toast program in the mornings that will collaborate with a few local bakeries, a preserve maker, and a local dairy. The toast will transition to sandwiches for lunch.
The shop opens on April 11, at 313 W. Jefferson Blvd., across the street from the Texas Theater, in a refurbished storefront that's part of the Texas Tower, a few doors down from Small Brewpub.
Meadows and Shelton started as baristas together at an independent coffee shop in Dallas back in 2007 and formed Cultivar Coffee Roasters in 2009. In 2010, they began roasting on a 5-kilo roaster in their friend's garage, selling to mostly family and friends.
In 2011, they took over a coffee space inside Good 2 Go Taco, where they hosted a retail location to showcase their roasting but also their knowledge and skill of coffee preparation.
In 2014, Cultivar opened its second Coffee Bar in Denton, sharing space with Hypnotic Donuts. Recently, they moved the Good 2 Go Taco location across the street and inside Goodfriend Package Store at 1155 Peavy Rd.
