Pizza in Plano
Popular Dallas restaurateur tosses yet another concept onto his empire
Kenny Bowers looks to make his Dallas-area restaurant holdings into an even half dozen. The chef and restaurateur is planning to open Kenny's East Coast Pizza in Plano's Berkley Square in late summer. The restaurant joins five other Kenny's restaurants: Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill and Kenny's Italian Kitchen in Addison, Kenny's Burger Joint in Plano and Frisco, and Kenny's Smoke House in Plano.
The pizzeria's prime Park and Preston location will house Bowers' ode to his Boston upbringing, with 14-inch pies prepared in a Bakers Pride Deck Oven. Classic Italian-American dishes inspired by Kenny's Italian Kitchen in Addison will fill out the menu, along with a full bar focusing on craft cocktails and martinis poured from a signature Grey Goose frozen tap. Forget beer — apparently pizza and martinis are going to be the new "it" pairing.
"While Dallas is home to several artisanal or Neapolitan-style pizza places, we wanted to offer an exceptional East Coast pizza in a laid-back environment with service second to none," says Bowers in a release.
The pizza at Kenny's will be more New York than Naples, with years of experimentation behind the recipe. Bowers says he worked with his favorite pizza makers across the country to develop the right dough recipe, because "the crust is everything."
