Where to Drink Now
Where to drink in Dallas right now: 5 new happy hour deals for August
The August version of our monthly Where to Drink roundup free-ranges from a hideaway bar to a rooftop bar on a swanky hotel. There are some great drinks here, newly introduced, and all offered at a discounted price.
These are Dallas' best new happy hours for August:
Atwater Alley
This "secret" speakeasy inside Henry's Majestic changed the hours it's open and also has a new happy hour menu with cocktails for $6. The bar is open Wednesday-Friday at an earlier time: from 6 pm-2 am, up from 8 pm. And starting right at 6 pm, there's a $6 menu available until 8 pm. They used to do this thing where there was no menu and you were forced to converse with a bartender about what you wanted, ugh. But now they have a small kinda-sorta menu with cocktails such as "sour," "spirit forward," "bubbles," and "tiki." Progress comes in small baby steps.
Blatt Beer & Table
During its daily happy hour, this Preston Hollow Village brewpub with pretzel bites and blattwurst has amazing deals: $5 for bloody Marys, margaritas, Moscow mules, and other drinks. On Tuesdays, Texas beers are half off. The hours are Monday-Saturday from 3-6:30 pm, Friday-Saturday from 9:30-11 pm, and a killer deal on Sundays from 12-8 pm.
Hotel Adolphus
The downtown hotel's rooftop pool area features private cabanas, a chef-driven menu, seasonal specials, and more. They're hosting a "Sundown on Seven" event through Labor Day weekend every Friday from 8 pm-midnight that's open to the public. Drink specials include $4 beers, $6 cocktails, and $8 wine by the glass. Admission and tunes by local DJ Souljah are free.
Perle on Maple
Uptown hotel restaurant is hosting a "social hour" menu from 2-6 pm with small bites, cocktails, and beer. Chilled oysters are $3 each. There's poached shrimp, deviled eggs, chickpea fries with black garlic aioli, smoked salmon rillettes, the Stoneleigh burger with pomme frites, a shaved ribeye sandwich on a baguette, chicken salad croissant, rotisserie chicken, and charcuterie board, priced from $6 to $18.
Truluck's
A recently-introduced cocktail menu features 20 fantastic drinks, which you can try half-price during the weeknight happy hour for $6 to $7 each, along with featured wines and chef-selected appetizers, also half-price. Amazing-sounding cocktails include "Summer Lovin" with Tequila blanco, curaçao, chartreuse, lemon lime, rhubarb/strawberry syrup, and egg white; and "Heart of Gold" with rye, lillet, pineapple juice, and spiced smoked orange syrup. Hours are Monday-Friday from 4:30-6:30 pm, and the deals are available at both locations: 2401 McKinney Ave. in Uptown, 1420 Plaza Pl. in Southlake.
