Pop-Up Season
Check out these 3 sweet pop-up dessert shops opening in Dallas
Three sweet concepts are popping up in Dallas, some of which will stick around through holidays for your sugar-fix and gifting needs.
Put these three pop-ups on your list:
Lady M Cake Boutique
Lady M Cake Boutique, the New York company known for its unique cake-like confection called Lady M Mille Crêpes, returns to the Dallas-Fort Worth area for only the second time, with a pop-up in Dallas' Design District starting November 8.
Lady M previously descended upon DFW with a pop-up in Hurst, of all places, for a special Cake Boutique Pop-Up in May that was a foodie smash hit.
Lady M New York was created in 2001, and is a New York City-based cake boutique chain with 37 locations globally. The pop-ups are dedicated to their signature Lady M Mille Crepe, made from 20 crepes that are paper-thin, layered with ethereal light pastry cream, and stacked one on top of each other so it looks like a round cake.
The Dallas pop-up will be located at 139 Payne St., and will be in residence from November 8-10, with limited hours: 3-8 pm on Friday, and 12-5 pm on Saturday and Sunday. They'll have their Marron Mille Crêpes, Green Tea Mille Crêpes, and Signature Mille Crêpes available for slices. Slices will be available for on-site purchase only.
JK Chocolate
This Dallas bakery was founded by two friends, J for Julie and and K for Karleen, to showcase their chocolate sauces and especially their adorable "Microchip" mini cookies - little bite-sized treats in a dozen flavors that include chocolate chip, chocolate mint chip, oatmeal chocolate chip, cranberry, ginger snap, and peanut butter with sea salt.
For the holidays, they're opening a pop-up shop in the heavily-trafficked Inwood Village, where they've set up camp at 5370 Lovers Ln., #128, in a space near Asian Mint.
"You can always find us at our regular store and warehouse location at 4710 W. Lovers Ln.," a spokesperson says. "But we thought it would be fun to do a little temporary shop in a location where a lot of people are shopping and we couldn't be missed."
Kate Weiser Chocolate
Kate Weiser Chocolate, the artisan chocolate store based at Trinity Groves, has opened kiosks at two malls where they will sell their renowned signature treat, Carl the Snowman.
Carl the Snowman is the 6-inch tall dark chocolate confection that melts into hot chocolate when stirred into a pot of milk on the stove. Carl gained national attention in 2018 when he was listed as one of Oprah's Favorite Things. Carl, along with his girlfriend Carla the Snowlady, are featured in the 2019 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book and are sold at Neiman Marcus stores.
Now Carl is available at Willow Bend in Plano and Stonebriar in Frisco at pop-up kiosks that look like a life-sized version of Carl. The treat is $30, and will be at these locations from November 1–January 31.
