    Calif. acai bowl chain booms across DFW with restaurant opening in Plano

    An acai bowl restaurant chain from California is expanding its footprint in Dallas-Fort Worth: Everbowl, which debuted in DFW in 2021, has opened in Plano at 5809 Preston Rd. #584, nabbing a space once earmarked for competing juice and acai company Jugo (before that, it was corporate office space).

    The location is the second for owner Isaac Mathai, who opened his first Everbowl in McKinney in late 2022.

    “I always knew Plano would be a good area, seeing the growth from when I was a kid to what it is today,” Mathai says. “Plano is a very established city, and it’s centralized for so much of Dallas-Fort Worth, so it made sense to come here.”

    Everbowl was established in 2016 by entrepreneur Jeff Fenster with a goal of making healthy superfoods accessible for everyone. There are currently more than 85 locations in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Tennessee, and Texas, half of which have opened in the past three years.

    Their menu consists of build-your-own superfood bowls featuring acai, pitaya, matcha, blue majik, vanilla, chia pudding, coconut, cacao, and chewy acai as the base ingredients, along with fruit toppings and add-ins.

    Mathai says that Everbowl’s acai stands out from competitors because of its creamy base, made with coconut milk instead of the powder, ice, and/or apple juice formula many companies use. The milk helps maintain its creaminess, he says.

    “So much acai is liquidy and sugary, and by the time you get done with a bowl, you’re drinking or slurping it,” Mathai says. “Ours is different because it’s more creamy and it holds its consistency for the whole time you’re eating it. It doesn’t turn into a liquid mess.”

    Everbowl's other differentiator is its simple ingredients, with an emphasis on dairy-free, gluten-free, and unprocessed foods.

    The menu features several acai bowl combinations, with build-your-own options also available. Some favorites include:

    • Everbowl: an acai base topped with granola, banana, strawberries, and blueberries
    • Nutty Butty: a vanilla base topped with oats, peanut butter, almond butter, banana, strawberries, almonds and cinnamon
    • Berry Boost: an acai base with chia pudding, banana, strawberries, blueberries and goji berries
    • Full Moon: a cacao and vanilla base topped with granola, banana, strawberries, and cacao nibs

    There’s also smoothies, with pineapple and coconut, strawberry banana, pitaya and peanut butter cacao flavors available. They also have what they call Everwiches: a healthy twist on an ice cream sandwich, with a scoop of vanilla or cacao acai base between two oatmeal cookies.

    “This can be a good catalyst for people to start changing a little something about their diet and health without being too pretentious or boring,” Mathai says. “Healthy food can be fun and delicious.”

    Prices are on the higher end: A regular-sized acai bowl is $13.74, and a large bowl goes for $17.49.

    The Plano location has a fast-casual vibe, with seating available for about 16 customers. The setup is similar to a cafeteria — staff assemble your order in front of you instead of a self-serve situation.

    Everbowl made its Texas debut in Uptown Dallas and has since added locations in Dallas’ Oak Lawn, Flower Mound, and Southlake owned by other franchisees, with still more on the way.

    Sweet Paris crepe chain folds in another Dallas location in Addison

    Sweet crepes are coming to Addison via Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café, the Houston-based crêpes chain, which is opening a location in Prestonwood Place, at 5290 Belt Line Rd. #110, with doors expected to open in early 2026.

    Sweet Paris was founded in Houston in 2012 by Ivan and Allison Chavez with a mission to revive the art of eating crepes. There's a location in Southlake, which opened in 2024, and another in McKinney, which just opened in June. (There's also a location coming soon to Dallas' Snider Plaza.)

    The menu offers 20 crepes in varieties savory and sweet including dulce de leche, lemon & sugar, s'mores, chicken enchilada, Philly cheesesteak, and a vegan option with portobello mushrooms, black bean purée, corn salsa, and chipotle sauce.

    While crepes are the signature, they also serve waffles, egg breakfasts, panini, and salads. A "croque madame" crepe has scrambled eggs, gruyère, smoked ham, & béchamel sauce, while an Alaskan has smoked salmon, pickled red onions, capers, and scrambled eggs, topped with dill sour cream, & scallions. Everything is $20 or less.

    They also serve beer and wine, mimosas, milkshakes, espresso drinks such as lattes, and hot chocolate.

    This new location marks the third of four units to be developed by franchisee duo Ludo and Yi Le Gall.

    “We fell in love with Sweet Paris the moment we discovered it,” Ludo says in a statement. “Bringing this unique experience to Texans has been a dream come true, and we’re thrilled to grow our presence throughout the state with a new location in Addison.”

    Situated within Restaurant Row at Belt Line & Montford, Prestonwood Place includes hot hot restaurants like Mendocino Farms, Flower Child, Loro, Postino, Original Pancake House, and more. All it was missing was crepes. Now that niche has been filled by Sweet Paris, with crêpes, coffee, and charm.

    Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café has been growing and now has 21 stores in operation in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, Texas, and Mexico.
