H-E-B gets the ball rolling on newest Dallas-area location in Prosper

Groundbreaking at new H-E-B in Prosper.
Texas supermarket chain H-E-B has started construction on its newest store in the Dallas area (sorta): Prosper, 38 miles north of Dallas, where a location will open at the southeast corner of Frontier Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway.
The occasion was celebrated with a ground-breaking on April 2, attended by H-E-B leadership, community leaders, and area nonprofits.
The store is expected to open in fall 2025.
The store will include a pharmacy with drive-thru and a True Texas BBQ restaurant, as well as curbside service and home delivery. It will also incorporate energy-efficient additions such as CO2 refrigeration units, LED lighting, and native landscaping.
So far In the DFW area, H-E-B has opened four H-E-B stores in Collin County: Frisco, Plano, McKinney, and Allen. There are plans to open stores in Melissa and Rockwall, as well.
At 132,000 square feet, Prosper will be the largest so far - bigger than the 118,000-square-foot stores in Plano and Frisco, and bigger than the 117,000-square-foot store in Allen.
They also have two stores in the works for Tarrant County: H-E-B Alliance in north Fort Worth, which is set to open on April 10; and H-E-B Mansfield, currently under construction and expected to open later in 2024.
Their only Dallas County activity so far has been construction on two Joe V’s Smart Shop by H-E-B stores, their concept with an "innovative' (cheaper) price format and more concise selection of items, and the first Joe V's outside of Houston.
Both will open in the southern sector: Joe V’s Smart Shop by H-E-B Wheatland at 4101 W. Wheatland Rd. is expected to open in summer 2024, and Joe V’s Smart Shop by H-E-B Buckner at 5204 S. Buckner Blvd. is expected to open spring 2025.
