Rock the Runway
Dallas design darlings debut haute looks at Fashionistas Fashion Friday
Dallas didn’t waste any time starting off 2014 on a stylish note. The first Fashionistas Fashion Friday rocked Fedora thanks to two local designers who are sure to cause a commotion in the fashion world: Le’Venity and Becky Hollands.
Guests — including LeeAnne Locken, Jackson, Tammy Nguyen Lee and Sara Madsen Miller — showed up in their fiercest fashions and anxiously awaited the runway show. Le’Venity’s Venny Etienne showed up with looks that caught everyone’s eye. The luxury women’s ready-to-wear brand, launched in New York, includes dresses, tops, skirts and trousers designed with a blend of various distinct influences and attention to detail.
“I started this line because I knew there was a niche for the one-of-a-kind pieces that can also be wearable in everyday life,” he said. “The best thing for me is to see how our customers respond to the work and appreciate the fact that the brand was created with them in mind.”
If you love a dress that leaves a lasting impression, you may have found your new favorite designer: Becky Hollands. She’s inspired by art, architecture and her own bicultural upbringing. Growing up in a family with Chinese and British parents, she learned the balance of expressing her ideas liberally yet in the most exquisite manner.
On this particular night, Hollands showcased her spring/summer 2014 “Diamonds in Rough” collection. If you missed her during Fashion Friday, you can see her work on display at the 2014 Pin Show Dallas.
