Editor’s note: Another week has come and gone, and there’s a lot we all probably missed. But we’re looking out for you, kid. Here are the most popular stories from this past week:
1. Original breastaurant motorboats its way to scenic North Texas harbor. A new-style Hooters will open in late fall on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard. The restaurant reflects a new prototype introduced in 2013 with a more modern, minimal atmosphere, including more open space.
2. Dallas’ hottest restaurant team snags prized steakhouse spot on Greenville Avenue. The space that was once Woodfire Kirby’s has a new tenant and chef. It comes from Brandon Hays and Phil Schanbaum, the team behind So & So’s on McKinney Avenue and the new-ish High Fives on Henderson Avenue. The chef is Graham Dodds. This will be the first time he has ownership in a restaurant.
3. Who will be the next CultureMap Stylemaker? Vote now. We are celebrating Dallas’ most fashionable men and women in our second annual Stylemaker Awards. We solicited nominations from our readers, and then a panel of judges selected these semifinalists to move into the voting round. Vote for your favorite once a day, every day, until September 20. The top six contenders will then move on to the finals for another vote that begins September 30.
4. Dallas young professionals dazzle in white during Design District fundraiser. If the fabulous early fall weather was any indication of how this young professional party was going to go, then The One Society was in good shape from the start for its annual Night in White. A light breeze blew through D.E.C. on Dragon, the latest hot spot for parties of all kinds, ensuring a cool night of fun and fundraising.
5. Artsy abode grants entry to up-and-coming East Dallas neighborhood. When people think “East Dallas,” the neighborhoods that usually spring to mind are Lakewood, Forest Hills, Swiss Avenue, and Junius Heights. But a little further east and south of White Rock lake is the hidden jewel of Buckner Terrace, where prices are more affordable than elsewhere in East Dallas.
