1. Dallas' best dressed dazzle like jewels at Crystal Charity Ball 2017. Themed “An Evening in the Alps,” the 2017 Crystal Charity Ball provided the mountaintop fashion moment of the fall social season. Dallas women dazzled in their glamorous gowns and strolled arm-in-arm with dapper gentlemen into the Hilton Anatole Hotel's Chantilly Ballroom.
2. Longtime Dallas theater practitioner dismissed for inappropriate behavior. Lee Trull, a longtime employee at Dallas Theater Center, was terminated on December 4 for "inappropriate behavior," according to a statement from the theater company. DTC says that it remains dedicated to taking any action necessary to ensure a safe workplace free of harassment for all employees.
3. Dallas gets another shot at decent Italian with new Oak Lawn restaurant. A new Italian restaurant opened on December 4 in an Oak Lawn building vying for a second chance. Called Mille Lire, the restaurant comes with a name-brand chef: Giuliano Matarese, who is opening the restaurant with business partner Brian Ellard at 3102 Oak Lawn Ave.
4. Breakfast chain flies to the rescue to fill Dallas' dearth of biscuits. The biscuits are on in Richardson, with the welcome arrival of The Flying Biscuit Café, the first location in the Dallas area of this adored chain. The restaurant resides at 746 S. Central Expy., in the same center near Floyd Road as Dog Haus, Wokk Asian Cookhouse, and Halal Guys, and has been open since late November.
5. IKEA opens second store in Dallas area in time for holiday shopping. The newest IKEA store in Dallas-Fort Worth will debut, conveniently, just in time for Christmas. The Swedish furniture retailer will open its store in Grand Prairie, its fourth store in Texas, on December 13.
