Lyft expands scooter coverage to new areas including South Dallas
Lyft, the transportation company that provides ride-share service and scooters for rent, is expanding the coverage area of its scooters.
Due to the scooters' popularity, Lyft will be expanding its geographical footprint to reach more neighborhoods — including South Dallas.
The new neighborhoods where riders can access Lyft scooters include:
- Fair Park
- Bishop Arts
- Wynnewood North
- Lake Cliff
- Cedars
- South Boulevard/Park Row
- Owenwood
Additional scooters have been added to these new neighborhoods. Riders can take the scooters anywhere within the service area.
A map showing all areas of coverage is available here.
Scooters cost $1 to unlock and 15 cents for each minute you ride.
Lyft’s scooters are built into the existing Lyft app, and riders are able to reserve scooters ahead of time. Lyft also offers a Community Pass for its scooters, allowing riders in low-income areas to ride for just $5/month.
"We take pride in providing the community with scooters that are both reliable and affordable, and we’re excited to bring this service to even more of our neighbors in Dallas," says Miller Nuttle, bike and pedestrian policy senior manager for Lyft, in a statement. "We believe in cities built around people, not cars, and we hope that by expanding the reach of our offering as a one-stop shop for transportation, we’ll continue to build on our mission to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation."
To celebrate the new coverage, Lyft will offer a $10 credit to the first 100 people who ride a scooter 10 times during the giveaway period between August 15-18. Those who take 10 rides will be entered to win $250 in credit. One winner with be selected at random.
