Locked Him Up
Tragic murder of young Richardson woman gets spotlight on 48 Hours
The 2016 murder of a young Richardson woman will be featured in the latest episode of 48 Hours, airing on November 18 at 10 pm. Jessie Bardwell, 27, was a beloved daughter and friend when she vanished from the Texas home she shared with her boyfriend Jason Lowe.
Her body was later found in a remote spot of farmland wrapped in a sheet.
Lowe, 28, was found guilty on September 20 and sentenced to 50 years in prison. He claimed that they took a mind-altering drug called GHB and had sex in the shower; she died after striking her head.
He avoided the maximum sentence of life in prison in exchange for divulging the location of Bardwell's body.
Bardwell moved to Texas after she met Lowe; she disappeared in May 2016.
48 Hours' Maureen Maher interviews Bardwell's father Gary Bardwell, as well as family, friends, investigators, Lowe's defense team, and even Lowe himself.
Called "Taken Away," the segment was developed by Claire St. Amant, former managing editor for CultureMap Dallas.
The show is the second part of a Saturday night double feature that starts at 9 pm with "Murder on the Cape," an investigation into the 2002 murder of fashion writer Christa Worthington in Truro, Massachusetts, and the unusual path prosecutors took to find her killer.
