There's something new coming down the pike nearly every day. Right now, there's an abundance of openings of a high-profile nature, be it a favorite chef back in play or a topical entry from out of town.
2. Famous midcentury treasures from landmark Dallas home surface at antique shop. A set of pale-blue stainless-steel 1950s cabinets from the Mayrath house, a temple of midcentury modern style that was recently torn down, were saved and are now at an antique shop in the Dallas Design District. Preservationists may have lost that war, but the rescue of the cabinets and other one-of-a-kind fittings from the house represents a smaller battle won.
3. This exclusive girls' getaway is just up the road from Dallas. After a handful of successful excursions to tropical locales, the founders of Reset Retreat are making it easier than ever for ladies to get away and recharge. In September, the Austin-based women's-only vacation company will host its first Texas retreat, not too far from Dallas.
4. Dallas-area apartments look like New York without the insane rent. Farmers Branch is undergoing a bit of a renaissance, and one example of the upgrade is an apartment community that feels more like New York than suburbia: The Brickyard, a project from the Billingsley Company.
5. Dallas suburb chills out as one of America's least stressed cities. We already know Plano has one of the best ZIP codes for schools and is as caring a city as you'll find. Now, it's time to chill out, because Plano is apparently worry free too.
