Where to shop in Dallas right now: 9 must-hit stores for August
Thanks to a few open doors and some strategic moves, there is a lot happening on the Dallas shopping scene right now. And we'll gladly spend our time indoors this month to beat that oppressive summer heat. Here's our list for where to shop in August:
Kendra Scott
Austin-based jewelry designer Kendra Scott is now peddling her baubles and gems at a second Dallas-Fort Worth boutique. The new store opens August 5 at the Shops at Legacy in Plano, and it's significantly larger than the West Village spot. The Plano shop is fully stocked with signature pieces and the Kendra Scott color bar, where you can customize a piece of jewelry.
Lublu Kira Plastinina
Russian native and current SMU student Kira Plastinina has opened her U.S. flagship store at the Plaza at Preston Center. "The girl who wears Lublu is feminine but daring, sophisticated and savvy," Plastinina says. Here you'll find richly textured and beautifully patterned tops, bottoms and dresses, as well as a selection of accessories.
Lululemon Athletica
On August 2, our favorite athletic line opened a second store in Dallas on Knox Street. Now Lululemon addicts have a second option to score colorful stretchy tanks, yoga pants and jackets.
Mid2Mod
Mid2Mod has been traveling around town since opening in 2009. The store first opened in an antique mall; then it moved to Fair Park and Deep Ellum and finally settled in the Design District. Owners Jennifer and Joe Eggleston recently added exclusive American-modern lines to their collection of vintage-modern furniture and decor to fill the new 4,000 square-foot digs at 1130 Dragon St.
Original Octane
Original Octane recently moved to the corner of Travis and Knox streets, just a few steps away from its former location. We like Original Octane for its eclectic mix of cool home furnishings, accessories and trendy clothing. Some of the brands include Scott James, Equipment, Current/Elliot, Amanda Uprichard, Sol Angeles, Kasil Workshop and Bella Luxx.
Quatrine Custom Furniture
Quatrine moved its shabby-chic digs to a McKinney Avenue space four times the size of the original. On the new Quatrine showroom floor you'll find almost every piece in its collection of machine-washable slipcovered furniture. The sofas are perfect for klutzes and kids who frequently spill.
Splendid
Look no further than NorthPark Center's Splendid boutique for effortlessly chic and comfy casual wear. The LA-based clothing line is known for clean designs, comfortable fabrics and bright colors. Splendid caters to the entire family, with apparel for women, men and kids.
Traffic Play
The second installment in the Traffic LA trifecta at The Joule, this Comme des Garcons Play store carries the playful men's and women's line with signature heart logo by Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo and New York-based graphic design artist Filip Pawowski. Shop for tees and polo shirts, Converse sneakers, wallets, iPad cases, fragrances and candles.
Whole Earth Provision Co.
Whole Earth recently opened its largest store ever in Southlake: 20,000 square feet of rugged goodness. This is the place to shop for all your outdoor adventures.
