East Coast Italian steakhouse pencils in Dallas for Texas debut
There's a new out-of-town steakhouse coming to Texas: Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse, which has a mere 10 locations, mostly on the East Coast, will open its first Texas location at the Grandscape in The Colony.
No rush on reservations: According to a release, it'll open in 2020. That's a long time to wait for a steak. You could even go vegan by then.
Davio's is from author/chef/restaurateur Steve DiFillippo, with a menu that showcases everything from aged steaks to simple-yet-unique seafood dishes.
The idea behind Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse is simple, regional Italian foods with a focus on the grill. The empire began in 1985 when DiFillippo purchased a locally owned family restaurant called Davio's in Boston, which he transformed into a destination. He has since opened locations in Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Manhattan.
Grandscape is the mixed-use development anchored by Nebraska Furniture Mart and other unique retailers and featuring a spectacular assortment of dining and entertainment attractions along with office and residential opportunities.
Davio's is not the only new opening: A wordy new concept of a restaurant called Seven Doors at Montecito Grill will open in fall 2019.
This is from Seven Doors Hospitality & Dianna Lynn Productions, an elaborately named hospitality group sorely in need of a lesson in brevity. Their portfolio includes restaurants such as Humboldt, Via Baci, The Rialto Cafe, Blue Island Oyster Bar.
Seven Doors at Montecito Grill is an original concept at the Grotto in Grandscape. Its motto: "honest food, done right." This is obviously far preferable to "dishonest food, done wrong."
The release says they'll reinterpret ordinary classics into extraordinary entrees, with steaks, burgers, salads, and small plates, otherwise referred to as "appetizers."
Candy shop
There will also be a location of Kilwins, the sweets company from the quaint village of Petoskey, Michigan. Their lineup includes chocolates, truffles, ice cream, caramels, caramel apples, fudge, caramel corn, and brittle, many based on recipes developed by Don and Katy Kilwin in the 1940s.
Kilwins store will stock over 300 products, plus a few hundred seasonal items, like Valentine's hearts, Easter bunnies, and pumpkin pie fall ice cream. Employees will craft Kilwins confections in each store, right in front of your eyes.
They currently have a location in Plano.
Local openings
Two local concepts will also open at Grandscape:
Barley & Board is the Denton gastropub, influenced by seasonal and fresh, high-quality ingredients in harmony with hand-crafted brews. Grandscape will be the second location for this local hot spot.
LSA Burger Co., the first burger joint in Texas to honor our state's musical legends and trailblazers, will open a location, as well.
There will also be a new residential building with 345 units, in its first phase, consisting of, studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments and two penthouse suites for rent. Construction is already underway on the 419,000-plus-square-foot tower, with leasing and move-in dates slated for 2020.
