Barbecue restaurant sweet on tacos opens at Plano's Granite Park
Barbecue joins the mix at The Boardwalk at Granite Park, the collection of eateries in Plano at Highway 121 and the Dallas North Tollway.
Good Union Urban BBQ, which is a barbecue baby sibling to the Bone Daddy's chain, is coming to The Boardwalk, with a tentative opening date of July 23.
This marks the second location of Good Union Urban BBQ. The concept premiered in 2016 in Richardson, at the CityLine mixed-use project.
A spokesperson says that the Plano location will feature a design that's different from the Richardson original, where the service style is fast-casual.
It'll be a "blended service model," in which guests place orders at the counter and the staff delivers the food and drinks.
So, a little more servicey than fast-casual.
The menu includes brisket, pork, sausage, ham, turkey, and ribs, which you can order by the pound or slice.
There's also something you don't see at every other barbecue place that has become somewhat of a signature: tacos. They'll do tacos specifically for breakfast. Breakfast tacos are a big deal.
In addition, there are sandwiches on buns, and larger sandwiches called "stackers."
Sides include smoked beans, coleslaw, and potato salad. Meat is smoked in an in-house wood fire pit.
A representative from the restaurant says that opening more locations was always part of their plan, and that the Boardwalk represented a similar scenario to the setup at CityLine.
The restaurant was originally scheduled to "soft open" on July 17, but the representative says it got bumped back due to some last-minute deliveries.
Other restaurants at the Boardwalk include The Biscuit Bar, B. Frank & Relish, Chip's Old Fashioned Hamburgers, Edith's French Bistro, Union Bear, and Pearl Cup Sip, which offers coffee and wine.
