This week is just so Texas. It starts with a Tex-Mex celebration and ends with a bourbon and boots event. In between, there's wine, brews, and brunch. It's a yummy week, y'all.

100th Anniversary Party at El Fenix Mexican Restaurant
This epic 100th birthday bash at the store's flagship will feature food specials, mariachi bands, and more. The best celebratory special? The world-famous, hand-rolled cheese enchilada plates served with rice and beans for just $1 from open to close.

September Wine Dinner at Del Frisco's Grille Uptown
This informative, intimate dinner allows guests to be guided through the tasting notes of each wine, learn more about Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, and enjoy a meal specifically crafted with these wines in mind. Courses include citrus poached chilled gulf shrimp, pomegranate glazed pork tenderloin, prime rib au poivre, and more. Tickets are $95 and dinner starts at 6:30 pm.

Axel Schug Wine Dinner at Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas
The exclusive and highly anticipated wine event features a five-course dinner prepared by executive chef Christof Syré and chef de cuisine Johan van Niekerk, paired with selections from the winery visiting from Carneros, California. Brews, Bites & Beats at Sammons Center for the Arts
Enjoy samples of brews from around Texas, tasty bites from local eateries, and live music at this inaugural event. Tickets start at $15 and the event kicks off at 7 pm. Admission includes craft beer samples, food, music, and valet parking.

He Said Magazine Pride Brunch at Perle on Maple
He Said publisher Cooper Koch and editor Steven Lindsey host brunch and bubbles to kick off Dallas pride activities and festivals. This French-inspired fête will feature an a la carte brunch prepared by executive chef Wade Burch and a "Bubbles from Around the World" champagne bar. Brunch starts at 10 am.

Bourbon and Boots at Lucchese Frisco
Garrison Brothers will celebrate the launch of the new Boot Flask Bourbon at this event. Their award-winning small batch bourbon is now sold in a 375-ml bottle ergonomically designed to fit snugly around the calf in a comfortable pair of boots. Guests can enjoy music, passed hors d’oeuvres, and the famous Bourbon Evangelists passing out bourbon samples. Admission is free, and the event kicks off at 3 pm.

Mutts 'n Margs at El Rincon
El Rincon is partnering with Stray Dog Ranch for dog adoptions. Purchase a ticket on site for $10 and receive a house standard margarita and half off any entree. All ticket sales will go to Stray Dog Ranch, which will be on the patio — with dogs looking for their fur-ever home — from 1-5 pm.

Upscale Mediterranean restaurant to open in Centrum Dallas building

Babel

A new upscale Mediterranean concept from a familiar Dallas name is coming to the Centrum building: Called Babel, it's a project from veteran restaurateur Mo Kamal, and it'll open at at 3180 Welborn St., in the former Steel restaurant, which closed a few months ago after many years in that space.

According to a release, it'll open in late November.

Babel will be rooted in generations of family tradition and inspired by the unique flavors of Lebanon, which is surely the best Middle Eastern cuisine of all. It'll build on the success of Kamal's popular restaurant Open Sesame — capturing the essence of Lebanese hospitality.

Open Sesame has been open since 2017, and has become a go-to for excellent Lebanese food with pita sandwiches and dishes such as kafta, which is ground beef with onions and parsley.

Babel promises to be its upscale sibling, with a more profoundly personal touch.

“Dallas has been missing a culturally authentic, upscale Mediterranean restaurant,” Kamal says in a statement. “With Babel, I wanted to create something that feels personal — a place that honors my family’s recipes, Lebanon’s rich culinary heritage and an elevated experience that guests will appreciate. Every detail, from the food to the atmosphere to the service, will tell that story.”

Details on the menu are still scant but the kitchen will be led by chef Zeina Kamal, Mo's sister, who will bring authentic Lebanese recipes passed down through generations.

She'll combine traditional spices and techniques with a refined presentation — featuring tastes from Beirut to Marrakesh including mezze, grilled meats, seafood, and vegetarian dishes.

Designed as a modern Babylonian retreat, Babel's interiors will feature soft curves, flowing drapery, and a warm neutral palette, evoking the beauty and the Mediterranean coast.
