Dallas devotees get down and derby at 12th annual Polo on the Lawn
Derby fans in bermudas, wide-brimmed hats, seersucker and sundresses came out in full force to the 12th annual Polo on the Lawn at Prestonwood Polo & Country Club. On the day’s agenda: sporting, sipping, socializing and fundraising.
As spectators cheered on the Kentucky Derby broadcasted in the pavilion, others bid on luxury auction items, including Byron Nelson clubhouse passes, Ylang23 jewelry, and a suite for the Thanksgiving Day Dallas Cowboys game. The generous bids brought in $25,000 for Project Transformation, an organization that helps engage underserved children and families in purposeful leadership and ministry and connects churches to communities in need.
While seated in the grandstand, guests — including co-chairs Dena Miller and Carina Gonzalez, Hamilton Sneed, Joanne Taylor, Alan Silvey, Carla Brock, and Julie Harris Krause — sipped on mint juleps mixed by Central 214’s Amber West and watched the polo action among the Prestonwood, ANCHA and Blue Dog teams.
Cheers all around for the Blue Dog Polo team, which took the win for the USPA sanctioned Henry S. Miller Cup. Meanwhile, Ron Corning, Steve Kemble and HGTV Design Star’s Hilari Younger had their own job to do: determining who would emerge victorious in the competition for best dressed, best hat, best picnic and best tailgate.
