The Dallas FBI is asking for the public's help in identifying a gang of violent criminals believed to be responsible for as many as eight local bank robberies. The well-planned crimes date back to July 26, 2013, with the most recent robbery occurring on June 17 at View Point Bank in Grapevine.
According to the FBI, the bank robbers have grown increasingly aggressive in their tactics. Investigators believe a strong of "violent, takeover robberies" in Allen, Bedford, Dallas, Garland, Grapevine, Flower Mound, Plano and Richardson could be connected.
"They may be committed by the same subjects each time, or utilize different subjects from a coordinated robbery crew," the FBI said in a statement. "While the crimes are similar, it is possible that all eight offenses are not all related."
In most of the robberies, authorities say that two to three men enter the bank brandishing weapons and demanding cash. When the men exit the bank, there is a getaway vehicle waiting for them outside. "The vehicles are typically abandoned near the bank and are determined to be reported stolen from the metroplex area," the FBI said.
The robbers wear long sleeves, gloves and full masks or bandannas over their faces. Witnesses have described the suspects as black males in their late 20s or early 30s, ranging from 5-foot-7 to 6-feet tall. Two of the suspects have a slim build, and one is heavyset.
The suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information should call the Dallas FBI at 972-559-5000.
