    Where to Shop Now

Where to shop in Dallas right now: 8 must-hit stores for November

    Diana Oates
    Nov 14, 2017 | 1:34 pm

This year is unique in that Dallas shoppers can expect more than holiday sales, Black Friday deals, and other tired attempts to draw you out of your house and into the shops. The holidays are welcoming a fresh crop of stores and opportunities to shop exciting brands. And just like Santa, some shops are here and gone in a flash, so you'd best not delay.

    Akola
This pop-up shop is located on level one near Dillard's in NorthPark Center and features jewelry from the nonprofit that empowers women in proverty in Uganda and Dallas. One hundred percent of Akola revenue is reinvested in the mission to help these women transform their families and communities. The shop is set to remain open through the holidays.

    Balani Custom Clothiers
This Chicago-based luxury suit experience has opened its second Texas shop at 701 Commerce Street in downtown Dallas. The brand offers custom-tailored business wear, formal wear, casual clothing, and accessories in a highly personalized design process that can happen in your home, office, or at their store. Custom suits begin at $899, and the average production time is six weeks.

    Cartier
The luxury jeweler recently relocated from NorthPark Center to Highland Park Village to offer its customer a more elevated and advanced shopping experience. The intimate boutique features some of the brand's highly prized collections, including the Cactus de Cartier and the Tank watch. There is also an impressive collection of classic jewelry and fine timepieces.

    Cuyana
This pop-up shop, just outside of Neiman Marcus on level one at NorthPark Center, is urging customers to adapt a "fewer, better" philosophy when shopping. The brand's timeless pieces include bags, clothes, and leather goods, and there is live monogramming on site for in-store purchases of most leather items. The shop is set to remain open through the holidays.

    For Home Forty Five Ten
Head to the original Henderson outpost for a pop-up shop for the Knoll Rockwell Unscripted Collection. Knoll and celebrated interior designer and architect David Rockwell collaborated on the collection of improvisational elements, and For Home Forty Five Ten is the only retailer to showcase the line. Think tables, pillows, seating, telly screens, and more. This pop-up lasts through December.

    Glossier
Of course a brand chooses Dallas as the location of its first United States pop-up shop. Located on Henderson Avenue next to Buda Juice, this minimalist makeup brand brought the whole collection for the Texas beauty obsessed. Think Cloud Paint, Boy Brow, skin tint, and lip glosses. The shop is set to remain open through Wednesday, November 15.

    MCM
Don't miss the newest opening of the NorthPark Center bunch on level one near Neiman Marcus. This serves as the first store in Texas for the luxury travel accessories brand that is equal parts contemporary and functional. You'll find backpacks, luggage, pet accessories, and more.

    Neiman Marcus
Who can resist cult favorite beauty products? Check out the NorthPark store's just-opened Trending Beauty section in the cosmetics department. Here you will find fun products that are blowing up the beauty industry, such as Ouai, Sunday Riley, Dr. Barbara Sturm, UMA Oils, and more. The only problem will be deciding which products to buy now and which to come back for after you get your Christmas money from Grandma.

Just one Saks Off 5th store in DFW survives company's nationwide closures

Saks Off 5th is closing most of its stores.

Saks Global, parent company of Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, is closing most of its discount designer stores as it tries to wiggle through bankruptcy. In Dallas-Fort Worth, three Saks Off 5th and Neiman Marcus Last Call stores will shutter, and one will remain open.

    According to a release:

    • The Saks Off 5th in Grapevine Mills mall will survive as the only remaining Saks Off 5th in Texas.
    • A Neiman Marcus Last Call store in Grapevine Mills will close.
    • The Saks Off 5th store in Dallas (8040 Park Ln.) will close February 2.
    • The Saks Off 5th location in Grand Prairie (2950 W. I-20 #125) will close February 2.

In total, 57 Off 5th stores and all remaining Last Call stores will shutter nationwide. (A complete list of closures can be found here.)

The mass closures come after Saks Global filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protections on January 14. The conglomerate has been buckling under the strain of $2.5 million in debt it acquired with the 2024 purchase of rival retailer Neiman Marcus.

"As we advance on Saks Global's transformation, we are taking decisive steps to realign our business to better serve our luxury customers and drive full-price selling across our core luxury businesses," says Geoffroy van Raemdonck, chief executive officer of Saks Global, in a release. "With these actions, we will be well positioned to seize the greatest opportunities for long-term growth and value creation. We sincerely thank our Saks Off 5th and Last Call colleagues for the important role they have played in serving our loyal customers."

In good news for shoppers, many of the U.S. stores, including those in DFW, will kick off closing sales beginning January 31. Additionally, saksoff5th.com will wind down its operations with an online closing sale beginning Friday, January 30.

The select Saks Off 5th stores remaining open, including the Grapevine Mills location, will serve primarily as a selling channel for residual inventory from Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman, the company says.

The overall primary market for luxury goods has been declining in recent years due to changing customer preferences, a perceived decline in quality in top brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, and a growing resale market led by sites like The RealReal and Vestaire Collective.
