Ordinarily, we'd be anticipating all the discounts we could get in our annual trips to the State Fair of Texas this time of year. But with the biggest event on the Dallas calendar canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, we'll have to look elsewhere to soothe our bargain-hunting souls.
We've unearthed some of the best deals around Dallas-Fort Worth to ease the strain on our readers' bank accounts. Below are the top five deals to check out this week.
- Cowboy Chicken: The fast-casual chicken chain, which has nine Dallas-Fort Worth area locations, is offering a Chicken for 4 Family Meal special starting at $20, including rotisserie chicken, Wild West sides, and rolls or chips and salsa. The deal is available every Wednesday and Sunday.
- Fort Worth Stockyards: To celebrate the opening of the Biscuit Bar, Mule Alley tenants like Provender Hall and Cowtown Winery will offer drink and food specials on both August 28 and 29. In addition, the accompanying festival will have event drink specials including $5 cocktails and $3 domestic beers.
- NorthPark Center: The shopping mall is offering discounts at multiple stores for SMU students to welcome them back for the new school year. Students just need to show their student ID at checkout to receive the discount, which varies by store.
- Pinstripes: The bistro/bowling/bocce venue in Fort Worth is offering weekly specials, including $14 bottomless spaghetti and chop salad on Mondays from 5 pm to close; kids bowl for $6/hour (including shoe rental) and parents bowl free from 11 am-1 pm Monday-Friday; $6 handcrafted cocktails all day on Thursdays; 50 percent off bottles of wine all day on Fridays; half-price kids meals (12 and under) with the purchase of an adult entree from 5 pm to close on Sundays; complimentary bocce from 9 pm to close Sunday-Thursday, and a happy hour Monday-Friday and Sunday.
- Smokey John's Bar-B-Que & Home Cooking: The barbecue spot by Love Field is hosting Customer Appreciation Week through August 29. There will be a different special each day, including deals on stuffed baked potatoes, brisket queso fries, loaded mac 'n' cheese, and a hot link basket.
- Taco Cabana: The Mexican fast food chain, which has over 30 locations in Dallas-Fort Worth, is offering four different deals to go along with their new margaritas. The Drive-Thru Weekend Fiestas, taking place every Saturday and Sunday starting August 29, will feature a special weekend-only menu, Taco Cabana MargaritaPalooza collectible cups available for $1, music, and more. Deals include any margarita + 3-pack of Flautas for $5.99; any margarita + any Soft Taco for $4.00; any two margaritas + 6-pack of Flautas for $9.99; and any four margaritas + Kickin’ Nachos for $13.99.
