Whether you're itching to get out of the house after a royal Thanksgiving feast, or looking for a place to sip and watch some football, there are bars in Dallas-Fort Worth that are ready to serve.

With the Dallas Cowboys game, you can count on pretty much every sports bar being open for business. Most hotel bars, too.

But here are more bars ready to greet you on Thanksgiving Day:

    Barcadia Bar & Grill
Both the Dallas and the Fort Worth locations of this retro hangout will be open. Dallas hosts a DJ on Thanksgiving Eve and then bounces back for the holiday.

    Barley House
Favorite bar near SMU opens at 3:30 pm with sports on TV and a feature for holiday "orphans:" chicken pot pies on special for $5.

    Basement Bar
Cozy Stockyards spot will host a Thanksgiving Eve party, then come back and open on Thanksgiving Day, too, from 6 pm to 2 am.

    Billy Bob's Texas
Fort Worth's best honky-tonk bar opens at 3 pm and stays open until midnight.

    City Tavern
Urban spot in downtown Dallas will open, as it does every day, at 11 am.

    Crafty Irishman Public House
Centrally located downtown Dallas pub swings the doors open on Thanksgiving Day at the highly civilized hour of 1 pm, serving a full dinner menu, and closes at 2 am.

    Double Wide
As part of its holiday tradition, Double Wide opens at 8 pm, with a potluck dinner and karaoke.

    Eastwood's Bar
McKinney Avenue spot is ready to roll at 11 am with the Dallas Cowboys and all three NFL games on their big TVs. Plus $8 Miller Lite pitchers and happy hour from 4-8 pm.

    Flying Saucer Draught Emporium
Downtown Fort Worth beer temple is open 5 pm to midnight.

    The Goat
Lakewood dive bar will open on Thanksgiving like it does every other Thursday: at 7 am.

    Idle Rich Pub
This will be the last Thanksgiving for this McKinney Avenue pub, which will be open from 8 pm-2 am.

    Ivy Tavern
Lemmon Avenue bar will open at 3 pm to gear up for the Dallas Cowboys game, with dancing, drink specials, and snacks.

    Lakewood Landing
East Dallas dive bar open at 8 pm — for but for drinks only, as the kitchen is closed.

    Lee Harvey’s
Casual Cedars spot opens at 6 pm for its usual laid-back fun.

    Libertine Bar
Greenville Avenue staple opens the doors for good beer on tap and hijinks at 6 pm.

    Meddlesome Moth
Design District restaurant-bar starts the holiday early with a Thanksgiving brunch commencing at 10 am, then stays open all day long.

    Nodding Donkey
Uptown neighborhood bar opens at 3 pm and encourages you to bring your family and friends to watch the Cowboys game.

    Old Monk
Henderson Avenue pub opens at 3 pm, and the kitchen is open until midnight.

    The Rustic
Uptown hangout with great outdoor space and live music opens at 6 pm, serving food and booze.

    Three Links
Welcoming Deep Ellum bar hosts its annual turkey potluck and Cowboys watch party. They're bringing in a "big-ass fried turkey" and ham from Rudolph's Meat Market, and encourage you to bring the sides and desserts. Festivities start at 3 pm.

Downtown Dallas restaurant Sauvage expands with new dining twist

A downtown Dallas restaurant famous for its multi-course tasting experience is letting its hair down: Sauvage, the high-end mom-and-pop restaurant near the Statler Dallas hotel, has a new dining option that gives a smaller, more casual taste.

The restaurant opened in September with a set menu featuring 16 to 18 courses — wild game, seafood, vegetables, and dessert — all cooked via grill and smoker.

While 16 courses might sound like a lot, the courses are mostly small bites. However, owners Casey and Amy LaRue received feedback from diners wanting a smaller option.

"We were getting a ton of messages from guests who want to stop by just to try one dish, a bite, or a specific pairing without committing to the full tasting — so we built something for exactly that," Casey says.

They've introduced a new three-course "Cocktails & Bites hour" featuring three dishes, each paired with its own cocktail, served from 5–6 pm on weekdays.

    Last week’s menu consisted of:

    • dry-aged red snapper crudo with La Chinola Way, a cocktail featuring passionfruit, mezcal, lime, and ginger
    • foie gras & truffle on house-baked croissant with Pendennis Club, a gin sour with apricot liqueur bitters
    • jerk-spiced shrimp with Clarified Paper Plane, a bourbon cocktail with Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and lemon juice

The new offering continues their pattern of pairing courses with cocktails rather than wine — an approach they've embraced since opening. "Limiting pairings to wine can get boring — it so often ends up being one expensive red after another," Casey says.

You can make a reservation on Tock, or just walk in and grab a seat.

    Caviar
They've also added a new version of their classic menu: no caviar.

"Some love having caviar integrated into the menu, but others prefer to skip it, whether for taste or dietary reasons, but still want the full value of the experience," Casey says. "With such a small counter, this put us in a strange position: do we give everyone caviar whether they want it or not, or do we remove it entirely and lose a core part of our menu?"

Thus, a new menu without caviar, priced at $195, with an optional caviar course available for those who want it for $245.
