As February turns into March, food events in and around the Dallas area offer the opportunity to taste food from a celebrity chef, celebrate a certain festive holiday, indulge in selections from multiple different vineyards, and imbibe some good beer while raising money for a good cause.

Tuesday, February 28

VNA Texas presents Celebrity Chef 2017
VNA Texas presents its annual Celebrity Chef event, featuring chef Nancy Silverton. Silverton, known for Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mozza in New York, has earned a slew of awards throughout her career, including the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Chef award in 2014. There are two seatings — one for lunch and one for dinner — at VNA's Haggerty Center.

Henry's Majestic presents Majestic Mardi Gras
In addition to the regular menu at Henry's Majestic, chef Adam Kovac and mixologist Alex Fletcher have created some delectable Cajun specials to celebrate Mardi Gras. Dinner includes crawfish étouffée, red beans and rice, and homemade beignets, and guests can also indulge in handmade hurricanes, blackberry Sazeracs, Creolo cocktails, Mardi Gras shots, and four different beers from NOLA brewery Bayou Teche.

Sea Breeze Fish Market & Grill presents Ferrari-Carano Wine Dinner
The team at Sea Breeze Fish Market & Grill in Plano has paired with the team at famed California vintner Ferrari-Carano to create an evening of wine and food. For $100 per person, you can indulge in fritto misto, saffron fazzoletti with calamari, crispy sea bass, pancetta-wrapped monkfish, and pink peppercorn pannacotta, all paired with just the right Ferrari-Carano wine.

III Forks Steakhouse presents Sommelier for a Day
Each month, III Forks offers a Sommelier for a Day opportunity. Guests help select wines for the coming month by sampling six wines selected by the wine director at III Forks, each paired with hand-passed hors d’oeuvre created by executive chef Chris Vogeli.

Ronald McDonald House of Dallas presents Hops for the House
The 14th annual Hops for the House, presented by Young Friends of Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, gives guests the opportunity to taste beer brewed on-site by the experts at Community Beer Company, as well as partake in creative food stations by Food Glorious Food, which incorporates the craft beers. Proceeds from the the event funds operational expenses for RMHD, which hosts 1,200 families each year while their children are receiving treatment for illnesses or injuries at Dallas hospitals.

Kroger breaks ground and reveals opening date for new store in Princeton

A huge new Kroger supermarket is one step closer in the thriving Dallas suburb of Princeton. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Marketplace-format store will take place at 1 pm Wednesday, July 15.

The festivities will include remarks from Princeton mayor Eugene Escobar, Jr. and Kroger Dallas Division president Rudy DiPietro, a release says.

The new store, located at the Princeton Town Center development - a 66-acre retail complex on the northwest corner of Beauchamp Boulevard and US Highway 380 - is scheduled to open in late 2027, a spokesperson reveals to CultureMap.

Princeton is the third of three new Kroger Marketplace stores to break ground this year, following locations in McKinney and Fate. The third site had been kept under wraps, and now we know it is Princeton.

Princeton, located in booming Collin County north of Dallas, recently has been the country’s fastest-growing city.

“Kroger is working hard to keep pace with North Texas’ explosive population growth, ensuring communities have access to fresh, affordable groceries and essential items,” DiPietro said in a statement when new DFW stores were announced in December. “As new communities continue to emerge, these new stores will provide what the community has come to expect from Kroger – full shelves, where everything is fresh and our people are friendly.”

Going head-to-head with fast-growing H-E-B, Kroger has additional new Kroger Marketplace stores in Anna and the Sendera Ranch community of North Fort Worth. A new Kroger Marketplace in Little Elm will open to the public on July 31, 2026.

Kroger Marketplace-format stores are multi-department stores offering full-service grocery, pharmacy and expanded general merchandise including outdoor living products, electronics, home goods, toys, and more. Marketplace stores typically range in size from 99,000 to 130,000 square feet.

Kroger operates more than 100 stores in North Texas and East Texas and more than 200 stores total throughout Texas.

Going head-to-head with fast-growing H-E-B, Kroger has been on an opening spree: In October 2025, the company opened its newest Kroger Marketplace store in the Bonds Ranch area of Fort Worth.

Three additional new Kroger Marketplace stores, in Little Elm, Anna, and the Sendera Ranch community of North Fort Worth, are currently under construction and expected to open in 2026 and early 2027.
