1. Dallas suburb blossoms as America's 29th most livable small city. Some Dallas suburbs stick out from the rest thanks to their happy (or affluent) residents, and now Flower Mound is getting time in the spotlight, thanks to its new ranking of No. 29 most livable small city in the country.
2. Construction to begin on new theme-park-style aquatic park in Garland. A splendid new water park is finally underway in Garland: The Surf & Swim Aquatics Facility, coming to 440 W. Oates Rd. in south Garland, is set to begin construction in summer 2024, with an opening anticipated for summer 2026.
3. Eddie V's Prime Seafood to close location in Dallas after 14 years. An upscale seafood restaurant in Dallas' Oak Lawn neighborhood is closing after 14 years: Eddie V's Prime Seafood, which has been at 4023 Oak Lawn Ave. since 2010, will close its doors, effective July 28.
4. Latest animal to die at Dallas Zoo is a young African painted dog. Jata, one of the Dallas Zoo's three African painted dogs, died on Saturday, June 29. The dog was seven years old.
