Put a Ring On It
Popular gown designers bedazzle brides with new line of wedding jewelry
Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are known for creating ethereal evening and wedding gowns. So it only makes sense that the design duo would also offer their brides a chance to put a ring on it — and necklaces and earrings — on their special day.
The new Marchesa Eternal Collection comprises an array of glamorous engagement and wedding rings, pendants, and earrings featuring the designers' noted vintage detailing and romantic imagery. The duo told CultureMap about plans for the Super Bowl Sunday jewelry launch when they were in Houston last fall to show their clothing collection at Saks Fifth Avenue.
"Who isn't excited about diamonds?" Chapman said.
She told Brides magazine that she and Craig focused on bridal jewelry "because so many of the brides we work with are unsure of what type of jewelry they should wear on their wedding day.
"They want something simple, but not too traditional, and something that complements their dress but doesn't overwhelm it. We're also often approached by men who are ready to propose and ask our advice on engagements rings — so this collection is for the bride- and groom-to-be!"
The 20-piece jewelry collection, which retails from $1,400 to $28,000, is available exclusively at Macy's stores and on Macys.com. In the spring, Chapman and Craig plan to expand the collection beyond bridal jewelry, with a full range of styles in diamonds and colored gemstones.
