What:Junior League of Dallas Milestones Luncheon 2016
Where: Hilton Anatole
The 411: Luncheon co-chairs Amanda Shufeldt and Pat Prestidge welcomed more than 900 guests to the hotel's Chantilly Ballroom for a celebration of some of Dallas' most revered female leaders. This year, JLD recognized Linda McFarland with the the 2016-2017 Sustainer of the Year award and Caren Prothro with the 95th Anniversary Lifetime Achievement award.
In addition to honoring those achievements, attendees were there to hear from tennis champion Venus Williams, who chatted with WFAA sports anchor Joe Trahan on the stage. Williams touched on the importance of teamwork within an organization, supporting each other as women, as well as dealing with failure.
"If you're not failing, it probably means you are doing something way too safe," Williams said. "The biggest failure to me is not learning from loss."
Founded in 1922, the Junior League of Dallas cultivates leaders who collectively address the critical needs of the community. The Dallas chapter is the largest Junior League in the world as well as the largest and oldest training organization for women in the city.
